In 1924 Sidney Rustin opened his first shop in London's Shoreditch district where he sold wood finishing products to local residents and trades people.
Sidney's father was a cabinetmaker and his mother funded the business venture with ?50. During the second world war the first night raid destroyed the original 1932 factory and the business moved to its present location in Cricklewood, London.
Rustins also exports to more than 20 countries.
Rustins formulated its Strypit paint remover in 1947 and demand remains high. RUSTINS was the first manufacturer of Danish Oil which remains a famous and popular product.
Today Rustins continues its research and development efforts on its core markets of wood finishing, specialty paint and decorating. Brick and Tile Paint
Specially formulated on high quality alkyd resins and micronized pigments.
Bonds exceptionally well to brick and tile, producing a durable and weather resistant matt finish.
Ideal for interior and exterior use.
How to Use, Specification and Saftey Information
Product: Brick & Tile Paint
Type A high quality alkyd matt red paint.
Intended Use: For all interior and exterior brickwork.
Special Features: Pigmented with micronised red oxide to give good opacity and good exterior durability.
Preparation: The bricks should be free from dust and contaminants. Brush the bricks with a wire brush to remove any existing finish, which may be flaking and to remove any loose particles and mortar. Fill cracks and repair damaged pointing. If the brickwork shows signs of efflorescence (white crystals on the surface), it must be removed by brushing or scraping. A coat of Alkali-resisting Primer must then be applied and allowed to dry before applying the Brick paint. The Primer must also be used if fresh mortar has been applied to the pointing and if painting new brickwork.
Application: Use a large brush and apply evenly. Apply paint liberally, making sure the surface is covered completely.
Coats: 1 coat is usually sufficient. A second coat may be applied if required.
Drying Time: Approximately 4 hours, depending on temperature and humidity.
Re-coating Time: Approximately 4 hours
Application Temp: Ideally 15-25 degree C.
Coverage: 14 sq.metres per litre 1 coat.
Maintenance: The surface may be washed with a mild detergent solution and a scrubbing brush and recoated if necessary.
Compatibility: May be applied over solvent and acrylic paint.
Settlement: STIR VERY WELL BEFORE USE. Otherwise it may dry with a satin or gloss finish.
Shelf-life/Storage: Many years if stored in original tightly closed container in normal conditions.
Hazards: Flammable. Keep out of reach of children. Use only in well ventilated areas. Keep away from sources of ignition no smoking. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of soap and water or a proprietary skin cleanser. Do not use solvent or White Spirit. A full Safety Data Sheet is available upon request.
Clean-Up: Clean brushes whilst wet with White Spirit or Rustins Brush Cleaner. Remove excess product from brushes before cleaning. Hard brushes can be cleaned with Rustins Brush Remover.
