In 1924 Sidney Rustin opened his first shop in London's Shoreditch district where he sold wood finishing products to local residents and trades people.
Sidney's father was a cabinetmaker and his mother funded the business venture with ?50. During the second world war the first night raid destroyed the original 1932 factory and the business moved to its present location in Cricklewood, London.
Rustins also exports to more than 20 countries.
Rustins formulated its Strypit paint remover in 1947 and demand remains high. RUSTINS was the first manufacturer of Danish Oil which remains a famous and popular product.
Today Rustins continues its research and development efforts on its core markets of wood finishing, specialty paint and decorating. MDF Clear Sealer
A quick drying, clear sealer that allows the application of both paints or varnishes, unlike white MDF sealers which can only be painted.
Touch dry in 30 minutes and can be re-coated in 2 hours.
Clean brushes in water.
How to Use, Specification and Saftey Information
Product: Quick-Drying MDF Sealer
Type: Formulated with a water-based acrylic emulsion, which dries to a clear film.
Intended Use: Interior and exterior use. For all grades of MDF, interior, exterior, flooring, moisture resistant etc.
Special Features: Quick drying. Low odour. Clean brushes in water. Excellent sealing properties. May also be used on wood as a sealer, which sands easily. Conforms to Safety of Toys Regulations BS EN 71 Part 3 1995.
Preparation: For application to bare MDF, or wood. The surface must be clean, dry, and free from contaminants. The colour of bare MDF may be changed using Rustin's Wood Dye before sealing. Routed areas and edges may be sealed before dyeing.
Application: Stir well before use. Apply liberally and evenly with a synthetic fibre brush, pad or sponge.
Coats: One coat is usually sufficient, edges or routed areas may require a second coat.
Drying Time: Touch dry within 30 minutes depending on temperature (see below).
Re-coating: Time Allow 2 hours before painting or varnishing.
Application Temp: Ideally 15-25 degree C, do not use below 10 degree C or in conditions of high humidity.
Coverage Approx: 12sq.m per litre, 1 coat, depending on the absorbency of the surface.
Compatibility: All types of paints, undercoats and varnishes can be applied over the sealer such as Rustin's Acrylic & Polyurethane Varnishes, Plastic Coating, Floor Finishes, White Undercoat & White Gloss Paint. When using Rustin's Wood Dye or Floor Dye, the dye should be applied before sealing, except on edges or routed area.
Settlement: STIR WELL BEFORE USE.
Shelf-life/Storage: Many years if stored in original, tightly closed container in normal conditions. Do not store below 5 degree C. Protect from frost.
Hazards: Non-flammable. Flash point: Nil. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention. After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of soap and water or a proprietary skin cleanser. Use only in well ventilated areas. Keep out of reach of children. A full Safety Data sheet is available upon request.
Clean-Up: Clean brushes immediately after use with water. Hard brushes may be cleaned with Rustins Brush Restorer or Cellulose Thinners.
