If your BMW is running rough and there are no faults on the cars DME then is is a good chance the valve timing has slipped on the exhaust camshaft due to a weak timing chain tensioner

A good mechanic or garage with the right knowledge and equipment can rectify this in a couple of hours with only this part to replace. Very straight forward and easy repair for a competent mechanic.

Adjust the camshaft to the correct position and fit this new tensioner and your erratic running and loss of power will be resolved.

The tensioner fits on the left hand side of the engine as your facing it behind a water pipe. Remove the pipe and remove the tensioner.
