A bit of background of us and what we have done. Having done over 1,100 rear diffs, 700 N47 timing chains, 300 N47 turbochargers, 1,000's of services and numerous electrical faults makes us very qualified to service or repair your BMW.

Description of why and what is done during an update?

Most car manufacturers have updates. Whilst these are covered for at least the first year when new and some during the warranty period, but there after are a chargeable item and can cost anything up to £240.00 plus the dreaded VAT.

Your BMW has many computer modules that control all the components of your car from engine computer know as the DME, the ABS module, FRM module and so on. The most basic BMW model the ES has 17 of these and as your spec gets higher so does the number of modules installed.

You may ask why do I need an update?

Updates are to enhance you BMW performance. In a lot a cases you may not notice any difference but in the background you BMW is working far for efficiently.

We can offer a very bespoke service in that if you have had an upgrade or an increase in horsepower to the engine control module we can exclude this from an update. Updating a modified module will deleted all bespoke changes so by not updates this module but all the others you enhanced performance will be maintained.

The upgrade also includes full diagnostic report so we can get a full understanding with any issues you BMW may have.

The updates we download to you BMW come directly from BMW so you can be assured they will be 100% up to date at time of download.

How long will my update and diagnostic report take?

No hard and fast rule to this. It varies so much from day to day and depends on how busy the server and download speed on that given day. You will need to budget for a minimum of 2 hours and in some extreme cases it will take up to 5 hours.

During the update your BMW will be on charges as a battery voltage of 13 volts must be maintained. With the ignition on you BMW will be checked every half an hour till the update is complete. Once complete we will than carry out a full diagnostic scan.

Same day service

The a full update and diagnostic scan can take anything from 2 to 5 hours as there are so many variables even on a day to day basis. It is best to get the car to us as early as possible on the day as once the update has begun the car cannot be started or moved.
