This chainsaw is ideal for tackling most domestic sawing jobs from cutting logs & pruning large branches to felling trees.
The features of this chainsaw include double safety brakes, auto chain lubrication, 460mm Oregon chain and guide bar. A powerful 2400W motor and double insulation. With a 10 meter cord makes this one of the most versatile chainsaws on the market today.
With a massive cutting length of 395mm this chainsaw is up to most jobs.
Kickback is usually caused when the chain teeth near the tip of the cutting bar bite into a solid object. The resulting reactionary force may make the saw violently accelerate up and back, towards the user.
Modern chainsaws have numerous features designed to reduce kickback, but careful use is the best guarantee of safety.
Always use a sharp chainsaw blade. Blunt blades are more likely to jam in the wood.
Always cut at full speed. At part speed the saw may not be able to drive the blade through the wood, resulting in jamming and kickback.
Check the cutting area for foreign bodies. Contacting wire, concrete, brick, or other materials can cause sudden loss of control.
Check behind the cutting area. If the teeth at the tip of the cutting bar make contact with other wood, they will drive the chainsaw up, and back.
Ensure that the thickness of the material you are cutting is less than the length of the chainsaw bar so that the teeth at the tip of the bar are exposed at all times.
Always hold the saw securely, keep your left arm as straight as is practical when cutting.
A properly functioning chain brake is important in preventing injury in the event of kickback. Always test the chain brake before use.
Sharpening the blade
Warning: Always ensure that the tool is switched off and the plug is removed from the power supply before carrying out any adjustments or maintenance.
Sharpen the chain blade regularly using an appropriately sized chainsaw file.
Extend the chain bar.
Fix the bar in a vice so that the chain can slide.
Fit the file in a file holder and place it over the tooth at 35.
File forward only until all the worn parts of the tooth have been eliminated.
Count the file movements made on the first tooth and do the same on all the others, both right and left.
After some sharpening, the delimiting device on the chain will exceed the height of the cutting teeth. In this case, use a flat file to round off the depth delimiting device.
After sharpening the chain yourself 3 times, have chain sharpened professionally. This will ensure that all the teeth are even.
Replace the chain if it becomes so stretched that it can no longer be sufficiently tightened by the chain adjustment dial.
If deep filing is required, take the chainsaw to an approved service centre.
Ensure the chain slides smoothly over the bar when pulled by hand.
Bars with sprockets need frequent greasing:
Fill a syringe or similar device with suitable grease for bearings.
Each time the saw is used, grease through the hole provided near the bar tip until the grease penetrates onto the tip.
