This 125Amp digital battery load tester is for use with 12V DC lead acid batteries in most models of cars and trucks.

The easy to read digital display panel uses LEDs to show the battery condition so even in the dark youll get a clear accurate reading.

This particular model includes in-built starter crank test procedure and CCA setting 200 1000 to enable the unit to be set to the batterys cold cranking amp rating.

TESTING THE BATTERY

CAUTION! Undercharged lead-acid batteries will freeze during cold weather.

NEVER TEST OR CHARGE A FROZEN BATTERY.

1. Turn off engine, accessories and battery test equipment.

2. Connect the red (positive) cable clamp (A) to the positive terminal (+) on the 12 volt lead-acid battery (see above).

3. Connect the black (negative) cable clamp (B) to the negative terminal (-) on the battery. Slightly rotate clamps to ensure a good connection.

4. Set Cold Cranking AMPs (CCA) rating of tested battery by using ÂœSET CCA1/2? switch. The default is 500 CCA, but you can adjust to 300, 400, 600, 700, 800, 900 or 999(1000) CCA by clicking this switch. A short beep indicates each change of CCA rating.

5. With clamps connected, the digital display (D) will indicate batterys state of charge. If state of charge is less than 12 volts, the battery should be recharged before load testing. If recharging does not bring voltage more than 12 volts, battery is defective. If digital display does show no digit, check for loose or reversed clamps; otherwise battery is defective.

6. Note batterys rating in Cold Cranking Amps (CCA). If the rating is not printed on the battery, use the following guideline to estimate battery size; small (4 cyl) 300 CCA; medium (6 cyl) 400 CCA; large (8 cyl) 500 CCA.

7. For load test, simply depress ÂœLOAD1/2? switch with red button instantly. (A long beep will sound. The battery tester will automatically perform load test for 10 seconds. DO NOT push the load switch manually for 10 seconds. If the load test on the battery results in voltage of less than less than 12 volts, an ÂœL1/2? will appear in the digital display. This means you should recharge the battery and refer to number 5.

8. After load test of 10 seconds, there will beep sound to signal the completion of the load test. Refer to load volt at digital display or LED for status (good, weak or bad) of load test. If the load volt is below 7 volts during the load volt test procedure, there will also be an ÂœL1/2? in the digital display.

9. After reading load test results, refer to ÂœBattery Condition Analysis1/2? section.

Battery Condition Analysis

LOAD TEST / 5 sec. (display reading) BATTERY CONDITION/OK/(green LED) Battery capacity is good. May or may not be fully charged. Check the charge state by testing the Specic Gravity (SG) with a Hydrometer. If SG is less than full charge, check for possible charging system trouble. Recharge to full level.

WEAK, BAD/DISPLAY STEADY/(yellow or red LED) If the digital display is steady, the battery capacity is not good. Battery may be defective or partly discharged. Check SG. If charging does not bring SG to full charge level, then battery should be replaced.

WEAK, BAD/DISPLAY FAILING/(yellow or red LED) If the digital display is failing, the battery is defective or has a bad cell. For a quick check, release the load switch and note display reaction. If voltage recovers to its full potential after only a few seconds, the battery is probably defective. If the voltage recovers slowly, the battery may be run down. Check SG, recharge and re-test.
