In 1924 Sidney Rustin opened his first shop in London's Shoreditch district where he sold wood finishing products to local residents and trades people.
Sidney's father was a cabinetmaker and his mother funded the business venture with ?50. During the second world war the first night raid destroyed the original 1932 factory and the business moved to its present location in Cricklewood, London.
Rustins also exports to more than 20 countries.
Rustins formulated its Strypit paint remover in 1947 and demand remains high. RUSTINS was the first manufacturer of Danish Oil which remains a famous and popular product.
Today Rustins continues its research and development efforts on its core markets of wood finishing, specialty paint and decorating. Small Job Gloss Paints are specifically produced for small painting projects.
A 250ml tin covers approximately 3.25 sq metres, whilst a 500ml tin will cover 6-7 sq metres.
Small Job Gloss Paint is available in 9 vibrant colours, plus Black and White in 250ml & 500ml sizes.
It also conforms to the Toys (Safety) Regulations 1995, BS:EN71 Part 3, which makes it ideal to use on children's toys.
How to Use, Specification and Saftey Information
Product: Small Job Gloss Paint
Type: A high gloss, oil-based paint. The finish produced is tough, durable and resistant to oil and water.
Intended Use: Over undercoat or existing paints and varnishes on wood and metal. Interior and exterior use.
Special Features: Vibrant colours available: Poppy (Red), Buttercup (Yellow), Delphinium (Light Blue), Mandarin (Orange), Oxford Blue, Buckingham Green, Chocolate, Lilac and Black and White. Conforms to Safety of Toys Regulations BS EN 71 Part 3 1995.
Preparation: The surface must be clean, smooth, sound, dry and free from wax, dust and contaminants. If the wood or metal surface is bare, apply the appropriate primer and undercoat before painting. On metal use Rustins Red Oxide Metal Primer. On wood use Rustins Quick Drying Primer & Undercoat. Existing coatings should be cleaned with Rustins Surface Cleaner, White Spirit, detergent or sugar soap and sanded lightly to provide a key, prior to painting. Cracks may be filled with Rustins Woodstopping. Undercoat may be applied if required.
Application: Apply evenly using a good quality brush.
Coats: 1 coat is sufficient but a second coat may be applied if required. Sand lightly between coats if required.
Drying Time: Typically within 4-8 hours, depending on the temperature and humidity.
Application Temp: Ideally, 15-25 degree C. Do not use below 5 degree C or in conditions of high humidity.
Coverage: 3.25 sq.m or 35 sq.ft per 250ml tin depending on the absorbency of the surface.
Maintenance: The surface may be cleaned with a mild detergent solution or White Spirit as necessary. Worn areas may be re-coated once cleaned and lightly sanded to provide a key.
Settlement: STIR WELL BEFORE USE.
Shelf-life/Storage: Many years if stored in original, tightly closed container in normal conditions.
Hazards: Flammable. Keep out of reach of children. Use only in well ventilated areas. Keep away from sources of ignition no smoking. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of soap and water or a proprietary skin cleanser. Do not use solvent or White Spirit. A full Health & Safety Data sheet is available upon request.
Clean-Up: Clean brushes whilst wet with White Spirit or Rustins Brush Cleaner. Remove excess product from brushes before cleaning. Hard brushes can be cleaned with Rustins Brush Restorer.
